Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Sharma Sweets (“we”, “us”), a sole proprietorship of Pradeep Barua, collects when you use this website or place an order, why we need it and how we protect it. It is written with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 in mind.

1. Information we collect

• Order details you give us: your name, mobile number, email address, delivery address, city, state and PIN code.
• Order preferences: delivery date and slot, cake messages, photos you share for photo cakes, and any notes you add.
• Payment status: when online payment is live, the payment gateway tells us whether a payment succeeded, along with a transaction reference. We do not receive or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net banking password.
• Messages: anything you send us through the contact form or by phone/email.
• Basic technical data: the browser and device type and pages visited, as logged by our hosting provider for security.

2. Why we collect it

• To prepare, pack and deliver your order to the right person and address, in the slot you chose.
• To contact you about your order — confirmation, a design check for custom cakes, delivery updates or a problem with the order.
• To process payments, refunds and cancellations through our payment gateway.
• To respond to your questions, complaints and feedback.
• To keep invoices and records we are required to keep under Indian law.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.

3. Order processing

Your details are seen only by the people who need them to fulfil your order — the person accepting the order at our shop and the person delivering it. Delivery partners, if we use one, receive only your name, phone number and delivery address.

4. Payment processing

Online payments are handled by a third-party payment gateway authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (such as Razorpay, Cashfree or PayU). You enter your payment details on the gateway’s secure page, and the gateway processes them under its own privacy policy and security standards. We receive only the payment status and reference number needed to match the payment to your order.

5. Cookies and local storage

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser’s local storage is used to remember the items in your cart and any coupon code you applied, so your cart is still there when you come back. This information stays on your device; you can clear it at any time from your browser settings. The payment gateway may set its own cookies on its checkout page.

6. Third parties

• Payment gateway — to process payments and refunds.
• Delivery partner (if used) — to deliver your order.
• Website hosting, font and image providers — which receive standard technical information (like your IP address) when pages load.
• Government authorities — only when required by law.

7. Data security

The website is served over HTTPS, payment details never pass through our systems, and access to order information is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable care to protect your information.

8. How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as needed to fulfil the order, handle any complaint or refund, and meet tax and accounting requirements. Messages you send us are deleted once they are no longer needed.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• correct or update it;
• delete it, where we are not required by law to keep it;
• withdraw consent you have given (this will not affect orders already processed).

10. Children

Orders should be placed by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page with a new “last updated” date.
